The makers of Naangal, revealed that the film is set to rerelease in theatres on December 12. The film had earlier released on April 18 and pulled out of theatres.

Speaking about the film's rerelease director Avinash Prakash says, "The best about this was that the producer held on to the film, instead of releasing it on OTT. He believed in the film."

The film also found an ally within the film industry within director Ram. During promotions for his film, Paranthu Po, Ram mentioned Naangal as a recently released, 'good film'.

Speaking about Ram's support for Naangal, Avinash said, "When Ram sir heard the news (of Naangal being pulled out of theatres), he came and he said, 'This film will have to rerelease in theatres. Don't lose hope or heart. We will figure out a way to go about this.' I am so happy Ram sir came on board and supported us."

Avinash also describes that while the team behind Naangal went through the emotions, as the news of the film being pulled was announced. "I never felt sad or bad, for a moment, because I knew we made a very honest film. And I knew that the film will find its way back to theatres," reveals the director.

The cast for the film includes Mithun V, Rithik M, Nithin D, Abdul Rafe, Prarthana Srikaanth, John E, Tanika Guruprasad, K Hariharan.

Along with writing and directing the film, Avinash Prakash is also the cinematographer and writer for this film. Vrajbala J handles the production design for the film. Ved Shanker Sugavanam handles the music, with Sujatha N writing the lyrics. Saindhavi has sung a song for Naangal.

CE's review for the film reads, "Tamil cinema has often been the voice of the underdog. Whenever we see an underdog and their struggles, we are inspired, impacted, or both. At the end of every underdog story, we feel satisfied because the underdog won or has become better. However, real life is far from that. The world of Naangal is filled with stories of underdogs. Be it kids or adults, Naangal’s characters struggle to have their voices heard, only to be snubbed by an external force. In Avinash Prakash’s directorial debut, we see the story of two underdogs. One is a set of three brothers who live under the controlling eye of their strict father, and the other is a man who tries to focus his efforts on being a good father when his professional and familial life is crumbling."
