Filmmaker Cheran has penned a note thanking fans for making the re-release of his 2004 film Autograph a success, as the film completed a one-week run in theatres.
In the note, Cheran wrote that these days even new films do not run in theatres after three days of their release, but people have given an overwhelming positive response to Autograph, making it run in screens even after a week. He also thanked theatre owners for their cooperation and expressed gratitude to the cast and crew of the film, and to those directors and actors who urged fans to watch the film.
The romantic drama film, written, directed, and produced by Cheran, has Senthil Kumar (Cheran), who runs an ad agency, boarding a train to invite his friends and family to his wedding. On his way, he meets people from his past, and from there, he reminisces about the three most influential women of his love life.
The film, both a critical and a commercial success, went on to win three National Awards under the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Female Playback Singer, and Best Lyrics categories.
Starring alongside Cheran were Gopika, Sneha, Mallika, and Kaniha. Autograph was remade in Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali.
