Filmmaker Krishnakumar Ramakumar, who appeared in several comic and supporting roles in Tamil films in the 2000s, reminisced about his experience as part of director Cheran's Autograph, which was re-released recently.

Calling the kind of success Autograph achieved a 'rarity,' he said the film was not just a hit in Tamil but also went on to be successful in whichever language it was remade into. "The cult status that Autograph got is unparalleled. Apart from being successful in Tamil, it went to become a hit in every language it was remade into. Also, back in those days, it wasn't a simple thing to produce, direct, and act in a film at the same time."

Having played a supporting role in the movie, he fondly recalled the days he filmed and said he wants to go back in time to those days.

The romantic drama film, written, directed, and produced by Cheran, has Senthil Kumar (Cheran), who runs an ad agency, boarding a train to invite his friends and family to his wedding. On his way, he meets people from his past, and from there, he reminisces about the three most influential women of his love life.

The film, both a critical and a commercial success, went on to win three National Awards under the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Female Playback Singer, and Best Lyrics categories.

Starring alongside Cheran were Gopika, Sneha, Mallika, and Kaniha. Autograph was remade in Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali.

Meanwhile, Krishnakumar, who made his feature debut with Oho Enthan Baby, is helming the biopic of inventor GD Naidu, titled GDN, fronted by Madhavan.
