Director Varsha Bharath's Bad Girl has been earning much appreciation ever since its arrival on JioHotstar after its theatrical run earlier this year. The other day, Anurag Kashyap, who produced the film alongside Vetri Maaran, shared his biggest learning from the film. "My key takeaway from Bad Girl is that everything I thought I knew about filmmaking, I did not know anything. I do not think anyone knows. They can claim to know that but do not," the Black Friday filmmaker shared. When it hit JioHostar, Anurag had shared that the film would "really change the way you look at women" and that it is "very appealing to women" and that they would "see themselves in it". Speaking about his decision to collaborate with Vetri Maaran on the film, he had shared that its fresh screenplay and Varsha Bharath's strong female-centric perspective made him feel "compelled" to join the project.

Varsha Bharath's directorial debut tells the coming-of-age story of a woman, played by Anjali Sivaraman. It reunited Varsha with Vetri Maaran, with whom she has worked as an assistant director on films such as Vada Chennai and Visaranai. The cast also includes Shanthipriya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, Sashank Bommireddipalli, and Teejay Arunasalam, among others.
