Passion Studios, in collaboration with Goldmines Telefilms, has announced a new update on My Dear Sister, the upcoming drama headlined by Arulnithi and Mamta Mohandas. As per the makers, the postproduction work is on the verge of completion.

The film, which explores the emotionally layered bond between a brother and sister, marks the second directorial outing of Prabhu Jeyaram, who made a strong impression with his debut, Yennanga Sir Unga Sattam.

The makers released a lively visual promo to announce the project earlier, featuring an unscripted tug-of-war between the leads—an idea that stemmed from their spontaneous off-camera banter on set. The video went viral for its humour and hinted at the film’s spirited interplay of affection, conflict and ideology.

The narrative revolves around Pachai Krishnan (Arulnithi), a rigid male chauvinist, and his older sister Nirmala Devi (Mamta Mohandas), a staunch feminist. Their ideological clashes form the soul of the film, director Prabhu Jeyaram revealed in a press note, adding that the light-hearted promo subtly mirrors the characters’ dynamic. The film also stars Meenakshi Govindarajan in a key role.

Further, speaking about the film, producer Sudhan Sundaram of Passion Studios says, “It is a privilege to collaborate with actors who have consistently sought out distinctive and meaningful roles. Arulnithi, known for his discerning choice of scripts and commitment to originality, once again demonstrates his versatility through this compelling story. Mamta Mohandas, needless to say, is an artist of remarkable depth and presence. The announcement video offers a unique glimpse into the tone and essence of the film. Passion Studios is delighted to be collaborating with producer Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms. He has been one big pillar in bringing more attention towards Tamil cinema by dubbing and publicising it in Hindi regions. As producers, we take pride in ensuring that the project will both entertain and resonate emotionally with audiences.”

In the technical team, My Dear Sister has music composer Nivas K Prasanna, editor Venkat Raajen, cinematographer Vetrivel Mahendran, art director K Arusamy, and stunt choreographer Ganesh.
