Noted composer-singer AR Rahman's Le Musk, described as the world's first fully integrated multi-sensory virtual reality (VR) cinematic experience, has made its premiere at the India Game Developers Conference (IGDC) 2025 in Chennai on Wednesday.

The film, created in 2022, stars Nora Arnezeder, Guy Burnet, Munirih Grace and Mariam Zohrabyan, and a preview of it was shown in 2017 at the NAB, Las Vegas in a room with multi-sensory Positron Voyager VR motion platform. Rahman contacted Grace Boyle, the founder and director of Feelies, a London-based firm that had created the technology to diffuse perfume during the 37-minute-long film.

Le Musk is presented by ARR Immersive Entertainment in collaboration with Madras MindWorks and the project brings together cinema, music and immersive technology, that makes it a unique experience which engages multiple senses including sight, sound, touch and smell.

The screening is being held from November 5 to 7. It is to be noted that Rajinikanth watched the film back in 2022 and called it a "mind blowing" and a "one-of-a-kind" experience.

It initially premiered at the Cannes Film Market's Cannes XR programme. Le Musk follows heiress and musician Juliet Merdinian, who, 20 years since she was orphaned, seeks out the men who changed her destiny with one powerful memory — that of their scent. The film has a screenplay by Gurachi Phoenix. Apart from directing, Rahman composed the music.

"Le Musk is not just a film — it's a world that engages all your senses. We've brought together art, technology, and emotion to create a deeply personal cinematic experience. I'm proud that Indian audiences can now experience this innovation firsthand at IGDC," said Rahman in a statement.

Developed with advanced VR synchronization by Madras MindWorks, the setup ensures a seamless and nausea-free journey through Rahman's world.
