Remember Ramesh Thilak's cameo as Saji's (Soubin Shahir) friend in director Madhu C Narayanan and writer Syam Pushkaran's Kumbalangi Nights? In a recent conversation with Cinema Vikatan, Ramesh spoke about the freedom he received from the film's makers in terms of characterisation. Ramesh recalled a discussion he had with the film's writer Syam Pushkaran about a particular scene with Soubin in the film that did not make the final cut. "Soubin's character tells me, "Even though you are a Tamilian, I have seen you as a brother only." I asked the writer why it was written like that. He asked me whether there was something wrong with the line, and I told him 'Yes'.

Subsequently, the actor suggested to the writer that the line was not appropriate, and the latter said that it was not intentional and graciously accepted his request to remove it from the film.

Ramesh appreciated the film's makers' acceptance of his suggestion, even though he only played a minor part in the film with a star-studded cast. The actor attributed this open-mindedness and team work to the film's success. He also revealed that he shot only three days for the film, also starring Fahadh Faasil, Grace Antony, Anna Ben, Shane Nigam, Sreenath Bhasi, and Mathew Thomas, among others.
