There has been plenty of speculation about Kavin's involvement in director Vetri Maaran and actor Silambarasan TR's upcoming film Arasan. The actor responded to an indirect question about it during a recent interview with Cineulagam. The actor said that he is looking forward to watching the film on the big screen as the combination of Vetri Maaran, Silambarasan and composer Anirudh ensure a quality film, which he says will satisfy all of their fans. It is worth noting that Vetri Maaran serves as a mentor for Kavin's upcoming film Mask and is also one of the film's previous producers. However, Kavin did not confirm whether he is part of the film or not.

Kavin also quipped about him being in and around the making of the upcoming Silambarasan starrer as the team behind the film were editing its promo. He said that Vetri Maaran went away and sat in another room during the film's promo edit because the latter was writing for it. "I told him, 'So you have forgotten about me,'" said Kavin in a tongue-in-cheek way. He also addressed a question about whether his association with Vetri Maaran made him ask for a role in Arasan. "Just because you know someone, does not mean that you can ask for an opportunity," the actor said before revealing that his talent should be the sole criteria for him to do it and not his association with a filmmaker.
