Actors Kishen Das, Harshath Khan and Shivathmika are all set to be seen sharing the screen on November 7, with the release of their romantic comedy, Aaromaley, helmed by Sarang Thiagu. Ahead of the film's release, the actors spoke to CE about the film, their characters and a lot more.
Shivathmika, in previous instances, has been vocal about losing film opportunities or being replaced by other female actors because of not having ample social media following. Incidentally, both Kishen and Harshath are social media or YouTube influencers who have now become actors. When asked about this dichotomy, Shivathmika and Kishen opened up about the impact of social media on their lives, its boons and banes.
Shivathmika said, "Kishen and Harshath developed an audience for their talent on social media and then came into the film industry. For me, it’s completely different. For me, there have been times in my career when I have delivered really good auditions but have been denied a role or have been replaced because of inadequate social media following. There, it felt unfair to me, because I am skilled, and just because I don’t have a social media following, I am replaced."
But Shivathmika understands how the same networking platforms could be beneficial for many who are trying to make something out of themselves in the film industry. "Social media can be a boon for people like Kishen and Harshath. When Kishen and Niharika NM made their film debuts due to their social media content, it was endearing. But the case should not be vice versa."
Contrastingly, Kishen addressed the difficulties of being consistent with social media content. "I have respectfully given up on keeping my socials up to date. Some of my loyal followers still expect quality content from me, but I am not able to keep up with it. So I want to be true to my audiences. I was exploring my creative side on social media, which I miss. But apart from that, I am not able to keep up with the fast-paced social media world," he explained.
Aaromaley also has Megha Akash, Tulasi, Sibi Jayakumar, Namritha MV, and Sandhya Winfred in its cast. Siddhu Kumar is composing the music for the film. The crew of the film also includes Gowtham Rajendran as the director of photography and Praveen Antony as the editor.
S Vinod Kumar is producing the film, with Aditi Ravindranath serving as the creative producer and Ram Kumar Arumugam as the executive producer. Mini Studios LLP is backing the film.
