Ilaiyaraaja launches all girls orchestra as tribute to his late daughter

Veteran music composer Ilaiyaraaja took to social media to announce that he is forming an all girls orchestra as a tribue to his daughter Bhavatharini. Bhavatharini was a singer and a composer, who passed away in January 2024.

The composer made the announcement, along with a call for entries for musician to join the orchestra.

Bhavatharini made her debut as a singer in the film, My Dear Kuttichathan (1984). He Tamil debut was with the film, En Bommukutty Ammavirku (1988), in which she sung, 'Kuyile Kuyile'.

Her first film as a composer was Mitr, My Friend, which was actor Revathy's directorial debut. She has also composed for films like Avuna, Phir Milenge, and Amirtham.

Meanwhile, Ilaiyaraaja also announced his new symphony venture, titled 'Symphonic Dances'. He is also in the process of writing his next symphony. Ilaiyaraaja presented his first symphony, titled Valiant, at the Eventim Apollo Theatre in London on March 8. He presented the symphony along with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
