D55, Dhanush's 55th film, was announced to be directed by Amaran helmer Rajkumar Periasamy. Reports about the untitled film's cast and genre have surfaced online.

Accordingly, the film is speculated to be an out-and-out action film with Pooja Hegde playing the female lead, and indie sensation Sai Abhyankkar roped in as the composer. However, there is no official word from the makers or those who are supposedly a part of the cast and crew of the film about the same.

Dhanush, last seen in Idli Kadai, which he also directed, awaits the release of Aannand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein, scheduled for November 28. The film starring Kriti Sanon as the female lead marks the third collaboration between Dhanush and Aanand L Rai, after Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re.

Dhanush's next film, tentatively titled D54, is directed by Por Thozhil fame Vignesh Raja. Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International, who is producing D54, said early in October said that the film has entered the post-production stage after wrapping the shoot and is eyeing a February release in 2026.
