Amid severe backlash from TTD members and Janasena party officials, the makers of Santhanam's DD Next Level have removed portions of the song 'Kissa 47' which featured chants of 'Srinivasa Govinda'.

The removal comes a day after TTD member Bhanuprakash Reddy served a defamation notice to actor Santhanam and Niharika Entertainments demanding to remove the song or furnish Rs 100 crore as compensation. Additionally, Janasena party in-charge Kiran Royal registered a complaint against the makers with the Tirupati One Town Police Station for allegedly offending Hindu sentiments and damaging the reputation of the deity.

A Public Interest Litigation was also filed at the Madras High Court seeking a direction to the CBFC to revoke the censor certificate of the film until the makers remove the song. Following a hearing at the court, the producers had decided to mute the objectionable tune and delete certain portions of the lyrics.

'Kissa 47' is composed by ofRO with lyrics written by Kelithee. Apart from Santhanam, DD Next Level also stars Selvaraghavan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Geethika, Yashika Aannand, Maaran, Nizhalgal Ravi, Kasthuri Shankar, and Rajendran, among others.

DD Next Level will be released in theatres on May 16 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
