It was announced last year that filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj would produce Raghava Lawrence's starrer Benz, directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, which was revealed to be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) months ago.

The latest update is that the film has gone on floors with a formal pooja ceremony on Monday.

Benz is the first LCU film that director Lokesh Kanagaraj will not helm. He has written the story and will be producing it under his G Squad banner. The upcoming film marks the debut of the indie music sensation Sai Abhyankkar, who is also busy with other big projects like STR 49, Allu Arjun-Atlee's AA22xA6, Suriya 45 and Pradeep Ranganathan's next Dude. The rest of the technical crew comprises cinematographer Goutham G, editor Philomin Raj, art director Jackson and stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan.

Director Bakkiyaraj Kannan has previously helmed Remo and Sulthan. The film's story also comes from Lokesh Kanagaraj. Jagadish Palanisamy and Sudhan Sundaram will back Benz under The Route and Passion Studios banners, respectively.

Meanwhile, Raghava Lawrence also has Bullet, Adhigaram, Durga and Kaala Bhairava in the pipeline.
