Sasikumar's Freedom gets a release date

The film is about a real life prison break that happened in Tamil Nadu in the 90s

We had earlier reported that Sasikumar will be headlining the film Freedom, by director Sathyasiva, who has made Kazhugu, Savaale Samaali and 1945.

The recent update from the makers is that the film, starring Lijomol Jose as the female lead, will be released in theatres on July 10.

Sharing details on the storyline in a CE interview earlier, director Sathyasiva said, "This is a film based on a prison break, which is a true story that happened in Tamil Nadu during 1991-95. Sasikumar and Lijomol will play Sri Lankan refugees in the film who have a reason to fight for their freedom. It will showcase the emotions of those who are wrongly convicted of crimes and are serving their prison sentences."

Bose Venkat and Malavika Avinash also star in prominent roles in Freedom. The film has music by Ghibran, cinematography by NS Uthaya Kumar, and editing by Srikanth NB.

Freedom is co-produced by Sujatha Pandian and Pandian Parasuraman. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
