Iconic comedy actor Goundamani's spouse Shanti passed away because of health concerns, reportedly at about 10:30 AM on Monday. She was 67. Goundamani and Shanti tied the knot in 1963, before the former became an actor in films. They have two children, Sumithra and Selvi.

As per a News18 report, Shanti was experiencing health problems in the last few days. Shanti was under medical care but her health became worse recently. As per reports, visitors are now allowed at Shanti and Goundamani's Chennai house so that they can honour her one last time.

Goundamani, who had been on a break from acting over the last many years, made a comeback this year with Otha Votu Muthaiya, alongside Yogi Babu, Rajendran, and Santhana Bharathi.
