The first glimpse of Karthi's Sardar 2 has been released, and it promises an epic showdown between Karthi's Sardar Chandrabose and SJ Suryah's menacing character, 'The Black Dagger'. Directed by PS Mithran, the upcoming sequel is in its final leg of shooting.

In the almost three-minute-long video, we see a few officials trying to break down a monastry's door. Inside, Karthi's Sardar swings his katana swords to combat his enemies. When one man is wounded on the floor, he realises that Sardar is behind the deaths of all his men. He warns that a disaster will strike his country. The screen then shifts to SJ Suryah's introduction as the sinister Black Dagger. He further reveals that a major war is imminent and challenges him to save his country and his life. Sardar, who is ready to face any kind of danger, kills the man and escapes. Towards the end, we see a young Karthi trying to run away along with Rajisha Vijayan's character.

Sardar 2 is written by Rathna Kumar,  Ashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi, with a screenplay by Nambi. Apart from Karthi, SJ Suryah and Rajisha Vijayan, the film will also star Malavika Mohanan, Yogi Babu and Ashika Ranganath.

Sardar 2 has music by Sam CS, cinematography by George C Williams, editing by Vijay Velukutty and stunt direction by Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan D'Souza. The film is produced by S Lakshman Kumar and co-produced by Venkatesh under the Prince Pictures banner. Ishan Saksena also produces.
