The Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) condemned certain TV and YouTube channels for going overboard with the coverage of the demise of actor-director Manoj Bharathiraja, son of veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja.

In an official statement by the working president, TG Thyagarajan, the producers body slammed some channels for commodifying a death and making money out of even such an unfortunate event.

The statement further added that it is concerning to see that some are making someone's loss a matter of celebration that will bring in more views. Thyagarajan was referring to cameras shoved inside cars and focusing excessively on the mortal remains.

He urged media and presspersons to discuss and come up with a yardstick for covering events like a demise and try not to bring in cameras.
