Rio Raj's Sweetheart clears censorship formalities

The film will release alongside Vaibhav starrer Perusu and director Jaayavelmurugun's Varunan

With its release scheduled for March 14, the Rio Raj starrer Sweetheart has cleared censorship formalities. The makers made the announcement on Thursday.

Accordingly, the romantic drama, helmed by Swineeth S Sukumar, has obtained a U/A certificate from the CBFC. The trailer that was released days ago depicts the characters played by Rio and Gopika Ramesh, who are in a relationship, in turmoil following a premarital conception. The two are then forced to face their families and society while also coming to terms with their own relationship and the upcoming baby.

Renji Panicker, Redin Kingsley, Arunachaleswaran PA, and Fouziee round out the supporting cast of Sweetheart. It marks the Tamil acting debut of Renji Panicker, who is also a well-known screenwriter and director in Malayalam cinema.

Yuvan Shankar Raja produced the film through his banner YSR Films; it is his fourth venture as a producer. Besides acting in the film, Rio Raj serves as a lyricist, alongside Madhan Karky, Vignesh Ramakrishna, Arivu, MC Sanna, Kelithee, and Gana Francis. The technical crew of Sweetheart also includes cinematographer Balaji Subramanyam, editor Tamil Arasan, and art director Siva Sankar.
