We had reported last year that debut director Mahaa Kandhan joins actors Prabhu and Vetri for his first film Rajaputhiran. The first look of the film was launched along with the announcement of the project, which coincided with the birth anniversary of late legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan.

The makers recently announced that the film will be releasing in theatres in April.

Mahaa Kandhan has worked as a co-director with filmmaker Vasanth S Sai in Sivaranjaniyum Innum Sila Pengallum (2019). The film also stars Krishna Priya as the female lead, Thangadurai, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Imman Annachi in prominent roles.

Backed by Crescent Cine Creations' KM Safi, the technical crew of the film consists of cinematographer Oliver Deny, music composer Nawfal Raja, editor Kamalakannan K, dance choreographer Sridhar, lyricist Vairamuthu, and stunt directors Rakesh and Danger Mani.

Prabhu was last seen in Nesippaya, directed by Vishnu Vardhan, which was released earlier this year. He will next be seen in the Ajith Kumar starrer Good Bad Ugly, helmed by Adhik Ravichandran. Meanwhile, Vetri, who was seen in Aalan, also has Aanmagan and Iravu in the pipeline.
