Actor Rajinikanth, last seen in TJ Gnanavel's Vettaiyan, is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Coolie. The actioner, helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, will get a theatrical release on August 15.

Latest reports suggest that the film's overseas rights have been sold at a whooping Rs 68 crore.

The film boasts a stellar cast, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and Sathyaraj, with Pooja Hegde in a special role. Aamir Khan, whose Sitaare Zameen Par was released today, recently confirmed that he will be a part of Coolie in a cameo appearance. Rajinikanth and Aamir have previously shared screen space in Dilip Shankar's 1995 film Aatank Hi Aatank.

Lokesh, meanwhile, is serving as a producer under his G Squad banner for projects such as Raghava Lawrence's Benz, directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan and Bhaarath starrer Mr Bhaarath, written and directed by Niranjan. Benz is the fourth film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), following Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo.

Coolie is backed by Sun Pictures, with Anirudh Ravichander on music, Girish Gangadharan handling cinematography, Philomin Raj handles the cuts and Anbariv in charge of action choreography.
