With the shoot for Karthi's upcoming Sardar 2 wrapped up, Malavika Mohanan penned her thoughts on the memorable journey she had with her co-star Karthi and director PS Mithran. In a post on X, the Thangalaan actor described the experience as a 'mad ride'. "I started this project with the most challenging schedule of the film & ended it with the most fun schedule in Bangkok," she wrote.

Sharing her admiration for Karthi, she mentioned that he has been an "absolute gem" to work with and reflected on how the duo have several common interests. She also thanked PS Mithran for giving her an opportunity to be a part of the film. "(This was) so unlike anything I’ve done before. This is a special one," she further added.

Sardar 2 also stars SJ Suryah, Ashika Ranganath, Yogi Babu, and Rajisha Vijayan in pivotal roles. Rajisha also appears in the first Sardar film, alongside Raashii Khanna, Chunky Pandey, Laila, Rithvik, Munishkanth, Avinash, Yugi Sethu, and Balaji Sakthivel. The sequel, whose production went for over 100 days, is set in locations such as China and Cambodia.

In an earlier three-minute-long prologue released by the makers, it was established that Karthi's Sardar will have a major role in the sequel. He, along with his son (also played by the actor), are set to go head-on against SJ Suryah's character named as the 'Black Dagger'. The makers are yet to reveal full plot details and a release date for Sardar 2.

Sam CS is composing the music for the Sardar sequel, while George C Williams handles cinematography and Vijay Velukutty manages editing. The upcoming film’s screenplay comes from the collaborative efforts of Rathna Kumar, Aashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi. S Lakshman Kumar produces Sardar 2 under his Prince Pictures banner, alongside Ishan Saksena.
