Earlier, we reported about the Karnataka High Court disallowing the release of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's upcoming film Thug Life on June 05 across the state. Following the verdict, Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA) wrote a letter to KFCC requesting a June 05 release of the film. Also the producer of the film under Raaj Kamal Films International, Kamal is set to meet KFCC on June 10 to discuss the matter.

The letter starts with an appeal to allow a 'smooth release of the film' considering the collaboration and harmony that exists between Tamil and Kannada film industries. It asks the film chamber to avoid any decision that will negatively impact the said harmony. The association then goes on to highlight Kamal's intention behind his remark about Kannada as one made "out of love for Kannada language and not to reduce the importance or value of Kannada language in the hearts of millions of people". It also noted down Kamal's "immense contribution to Kannada cinema" and the respect he has among the industry's filmmakers.

The letter draws attention to actor Shivarajkumar's comment to pacify the tensions between the two states, stating a similar sentiment is necessary to move beyond Kamal's comment. It also calls back the recent International Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq's remark about Kannada being the world's most "tolerant language", one with "a with a strong fraternal relationship with other Dravidian languages." The organisation attributes Kamal's comment to the same fraternal relationship.
