Sam CS: Lesser-known films have been my visiting cards for big projects

Some of his projects awaiting release are Blackmail, Saloon, and Retta Thala

Music composer Sam CS said that he doesn't believe in having a different working style for a big or a small film, and that he pocketed some big films because of his work in lesser-known or less successful films.

In an interview with Vikatan, the composer said that he was picked for Mahavatar Narasimha after the makers noticed his work in Jada (2019), starring Kathir and Roshini Prakash. "If I started working differently for big and small films, this could not have been possible. I believe in giving my fullest to the film I work on, regardless of the star value or budget. This is not just one instance; I was roped in for Pushpa 2: The Rule, as they liked my work in Ayogya."

Observing the changing times and tastes in music, Sam CS said that there were times when good songs and background scores have supported a film with an average story, but now, only if a film becomes a hit, a song from that film will become popular. "I composed a song, ' Paarvai Thani', for Ace. I immersed myself fully into composing this song and it was also loved when it dropped. But once the film began getting polarising responses, the song's popularity turned glacial."

Sam CS is having a busy year with releases in multiple languages: Ennu Swantham Punyalan, Madraskaaran, Vanangaan, Get-Set Baby, Dilruba, Jack, Ace, Phoenix, Trending, and Mahavatar Narsimha. Some of his projects awaiting release are Blackmail, Saloon, and Retta Thala.
