Vasanth Ravi's long-delayed film Indra with debutant director Sabarish Nanda is finally gearing up for release in theatres. Touted to be a crime thriller, the upcoming film is slated to release in theatres on August 22.

The makers had released a new poster featuring Vasanth Ravi and Sunil in an eerie backdrop to share the news. Sabarish Nanda is an erstwhile associate of director Sarjun.

The first look poster of the film was released in December 2023. Indra, which marks Vasanth Ravi's seventh film, also stars Mehreen Pirzada playing the female lead and Anikha Surendran portraying a crucial role. Kalyan Master will also be seen in a key role in the film. Further details including the plot, a teaser and trailer are yet to be shared by the makers.

On the technical team, Indra has cinematography by Prabu Rahgav, music by Soppana Sundari-fame Ajmal Tahseen and editing by Praveen KL. The film is backed by Jaffar Sadiq from JSM Productions and Irfan Malik from Emperor Entertainment.

Vasanth Ravi was last seen in Weapon, directed by Guhan Seniappan which was released last year. The film also starred Sathyaraj, Rajiv Menon, Tanya Hope, Rajeev Pillai, Yashika Aannand, Mime Gopi, and Kaniha, among others. He has also had a direct-to-digital release Pon Ondru Kanden, directed by V Priya.
