In an exclusive interview with CE, Vijay Sethupathi revealed that his past disagreement with director Pandiraaj never got in the way of their film Thalaivan Thalaivii’s making. Vijay said that Pandiraaj narrated the screenplay to him and asked him to raise his concerns about it if he has any. "We had a sense of democracy between us," the actor said before adding that their approach remained the same during the film's production as well.

Director Pandiraaj recently disclosed that he and Vijay once had such a significant disagreement that they mutually decided never to collaborate again. However, at director Mysskin's birthday party, Vijay initiated the reconciliation, approaching Pandiraaj and suggesting they work together, effectively ending their long-standing difference of opinion.

Addressing how an artist can collaborate with a filmmaker whom he has had past disagreements with, Vijay said that time would heal everything. He also quipped that he has collaborated with many people in the film industry whom he has had disagreements with, suggesting that this is part of his job as an actor.

Thalaivan Thalaivii marks the first collaboration between director Pandiraaj and actor Vijay Sethupathi. According to reports, their disagreement stemmed from a minor difference of opinion, which became bigger. The reason for the disagreement is not known.

Interestingly, the upcoming romantic comedy explores the fiery dynamics between a husband (Vijay) and wife (Nithya Menen), seemingly two strong-willed individuals, who are involved in the food production business. The film reunites Vijay Sethupathi with his 19(1)(a) co-star Nithya Menen. Unlike the 2019 Malayalam film, Thalaivan Thalaivii will feature the two actors together for a longer amount of time. A Sathya Jyothi Films production, Thalaivan Thalaivii is slated for a July 25 release in theatres.
