We recently reported that Kavin and Priyanka Mohan are set to share screen space for the first time in a fantasy romantic comedy directed by Ken Royson. Backed by Swaroop Reddy under the Think Studios banner, the film, tentatively titled Kavin 09, will reportedly begin shooting in October.

This marks the feature film directorial debut of Ken Royson, a filmmaker known for his work in music videos. Royson has previously collaborated with leading composers and indie artists such as Ofro, Santhosh Narayanan, Sai Abhyankkar, Arivu, Asal Kolaar, and Hip Hop Thamizha. His popular video credits include 'The One' from Retro, '10000 Pax' from Jigarthanda DoubleX, 'Boombastic' by Hip Hop Thamizha, and 'Jorthaale' by Asal Kolaar.

Music for the film will be composed by Ofro, who is also making waves in the independent music scene as the head of Att Culture and a frequent collaborator with Tamil hip hop artists. The film promises a vibrant soundtrack and an emotionally rich, whimsical narrative.

The film is said to explore how life presents opportunities and the importance of recognising them before they slip away. Kavin was reportedly the director’s first choice for the role due to his boy-next-door appeal. As per reports, the filmmaker felt that Kavin and Priyanka Mohan would make for a fresh and appealing on-screen pair, which led to the decision to cast her in the film.

The project was officially launched with a grand muhurat ceremony last week in Chennai. Kavin 09 adds to an already packed lineup for Kavin, who is also working on Kiss, directed by Satish Krishnan; Mask, produced by Vetri Maaran and co-starring Andrea Jeremiah; and an upcoming film with Thandatti director Ram Sangaiah.

Priyanka Mohan, last seen in a cameo in Dhanush’sNilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam, is currently awaiting the release of the Pawan Kalyan-starrer OG, slated to hit screens on September 25.
