Actor and composer GV Prakash Kumar has proven that his dedication goes beyond the screen. Speaking at the audio launch of his upcoming film, Blackmail, the film’s producer, Jeyakodi Amalraj, revealed that the actor accepted only half his remuneration in order to support the completion of the film.

“If there’s one person I must thank for Blackmail, it’s my hero, GV Prakash,” said Amalraj. “We had about eight days of shooting left, but things weren’t moving forward due to financial constraints. GV Prakash stepped in and helped us complete it.”

Amalraj went on to share the actor’s unhesitating support: “In this day and age, you mostly hear of actors insisting on full payment before stepping onto a set. But GV Prakash only took 50% of his agreed pay. When I told him this is all I had and asked for his support, he immediately said, ‘If it will help you complete the film, I’ll give it up.’ He finished the remaining shoot, dubbed for the film, and has even turned up today for the audio launch. I will always be indebted to him.”

Blackmail, a thriller drama directed by Iravukku Aayiram Kangal filmmaker Mu Maran, is scheduled to hit theatres on August 1. The film stars GV Prakash and Teju Ashwini in the lead roles and features an ensemble cast including Srikanth, Bindhu Madhavi, Linga, Thilak Ramesh, and Muthukumar.

As per the recently released trailer, the film seems to revolve around an abducted child and GV Prakash's character being wrongfully accused of it. Bindu Madhavi and Teju Ashwini's characters' lives are also thrown upside down after the incident, while Srikanth seems to be playing the villain.

Produced by A Deivakani and presented by Jeyakodi Amalraj under JDS Film Factory, Blackmail boasts an experienced technical crew. Gokul Benoy handles the cinematography, with music by Sam CS and editing by San Lokesh. The film’s stunt sequences are choreographed by Rajasekhar, and costume design is by Thilakapriya Shanmugham and Vinod Sundar.
