As actor Sarathkumar celebrates his 71st birthday on Monday, the makers of his upcoming films Kombuseevi and Dude have dropped the actor's looks.
He made his acting debut in Kan Simittum Neram (1988), which he produced. He went on to star in action and commercial entertainers such as Pulan Visaranai and Mounam Sammadham (1990), Pudhu Manithan (1991) and Suriyan (1992). Some of the films that enabled him to make inroads in the box-office game are Nattamai (1994), Ragasiya Police (1995) and Simmarasi (1998). He exercised his funny bone in films such as Samuthiram (2001), Thenkasi Pattanam (2002), Arasu (2003), and Aai (2004).
The actor-politician has also starred in numerous Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films, sharing screen space with the top stars of the respective industries.
Kombuseevi stars Shanmuga Pandian as the lead, with Kaali Venkat, Kalki Raja, and Tharnika in supporting roles. On the technical front, Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the film's score, Balasubramaniem handled cinematography, Dinesh Ponnuraj took charge of editing, and Phoenix Prabhu and Saravana Sakthi choreographed the film's action sequences.
Directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, Dude is Pradeep Ranganathan's fourth film as lead after Love Today, Dragon, and Love Insurance Kompany. The film stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, with the rest of the star cast comprising Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, and Dravid Selvam.
