Fahadh Faasil-Vadivelu starrer Maareesan gets release date

It reunites Fahadh and Vadivelu after 2023's Maamannan

The makers of the Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu starrer Maareesan have announced the film's release date on Saturday. The film will hit theatres worldwide on July 25. Sudheesh Sankar is directing the film from a V Krishna Moorthy screenplay. It reunites Fahadh and Vadivelu after 2023's Maamannan, the Mari Selvaraj directorial that which was both a box-office success and garnered significant praise for their performances.

This film is Sudheesh Sankar's second Tamil directorial venture, following Aarumaname (2009). Sudheesh is well-known for his work in Malayalam television and films, such as 2014's Villali Veeran. It also stars Vivek Prasanna as the friend of Fahadh's character, as well as PL Thenappan and Kovai Sarala as cops. The cast also includes Sithara, Livingston, Saravana Subbiah, Renuka, Krishna, Telephone Raja, and Haritha. On the technical front, Maareesan has composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, editor Sreejith Sarang, and cinematographer Kalaiselvan Sivaji. 

RB Choudary is producing the film through his banners Super Good Films. The makers are yet to reveal details about the plot. However, the recently released trailer, initially hints at a breezy, feel-good road film before taking a sharp turn into the thriller genre. The teaser, set to the 1957 Mayabazar song ‘Aaha Inba Nilaavinile’, opens with aerial shots of Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu on a bike traversing diverse landscapes. However, the mood shifts dramatically when the lead characters begin to sing the Mayabazar song, revealing glimpses of a thriller narrative.
