As director Ram's latest offering, Paranthu Po, opens to positive reviews in theatres, one voice of heartfelt admiration and gratitude comes from his former assistant and acclaimed filmmaker Mari Selvaraj.

Currently in the United States on official work, Mari expressed his regret at not being in Chennai for the film’s release, an occasion he usually never misses. “Usually, I’m right beside Ram sir, nervous and hopeful during his film releases,” Mari shared. “But this time, though I’m far away, I feel immense happiness. Friends from Chennai have been calling to tell me how much they loved Paranthu Po. They’ve spoken about how refreshing it is to watch a film that’s both light-hearted and meaningful.”

Ram, known for his intense and introspective filmmaking, takes a surprising turn with Paranthu Po, which has been described as a gentle and uplifting story with a strong emotional core. For Mari Selvaraj, the film represents more than just cinema; it is a reflection of the man he considers his greatest mentor.

“I sincerely urge everyone to watch it,” Mari says. “It’ll make you laugh and, more importantly, restore your faith in humanity. If I am who I am today, it’s because of Ram sir. If you were to make a film out of the advice and life lessons he’s given me over the years, Paranthu Po would be that film.”

Paranthu Po stars Shiva, Grace Anthony, and Master Mitul Ryan in lead roles. Anjali, Aju Varghese, Vijay Yesudas, Dia, Jesse Kukku, Balaji Sakthivel, and Sreeja Ravi round out the ensemble cast. The film had its premiere at the 54th International Film Festival of Rotterdam earlier this year.

The crew of the film includes NK Ekhambaram as the director of photography, Mathi VS as the editor, Kumar Gangappan as the production designer, and Stunt Silva as the stunt master. Ram, V Gunasekaran, V Karupuchaamy, and V Shankar are producing the film. JioHotstar, GKS Bros Production, and Seven Seas Seven Hills Productions are backing the film.

On the work front, Mari Selvaraj is currently working on Bison Kaalamaadan starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles. According to reports, the film is based on the life of Arjuna Awardee Manathi Ganesan, but the makers are yet to confirm the same. The film is slated to hit theatres for Diwali. He will next work with actor Dhanush for the second time after Karnan, for the latter's 56th film.
