Director Venkat Prabhu's high-concept political thriller with a time loop element, Maanaadu is releasing again in theatres tomorrow, its producer Suresh Kamatchi announced on social media. The film stars Silambarasan TR, SJ Suryah, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and YG Mahendran, among others. The film is known for its central performances by SJ Suryah and Silambarasan, its use of the time loop concept, KL Praveen's editing, Yuvan Shankar Raja's background score, and all the inventive action scenes. In the film, Silambarasan's character is trying to keep a political gathering from happening, alongside the potential calamity ensuing from it. The same set of events repeats itself when an untoward event, such as the death of one of the main characters, happens.

The film released originally in theatres in November 2021. In Maanaadu, the villain is as powerful as the hero. In our review of the film, Sudhir Srinivasan wrote, "Every writer likes to believe they are writing a ‘smart cat-and-mouse game between the hero and the villain’, but it’s easier said than done. Maanaadu accomplishes this though, and it is evidently a result of much writing work."
