On Wednesday, Kalaipuli S Thanu announced that the upcoming Vetri Maaran directorial, Vaadi Vaasal, starring Suriya in the lead, is all set to go on the floors. Thanu, who is producing the film under the V Creations banner, shared a photo of himself with Vetri Maaran and Suriya, writing in Tamil, "Vaadi Vaasal is opening for the world to revere." The makers also announced that the film is all set to begin production.

With the release of Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai: Part 2 and with Suriya wrapping up his 44th with Karthik Subbaraj, the two are expected to restart filming soon. Suriya also has Suriya 45, directed by RJ Balaji, in the pipeline.

The talks about Vaadi Vaasal began as early as 2020. However, Vetri Maaran was completely immersed in the making of Soori and Vijay Sethupathi's Viduthalai, the two-part film. The film has therefore been long delayed.

Vaadi Vaasal is a film about Jallikattu and the title refers to the gate through which the bulls are released during the sport. GV Prakash was previously announced as the music composer for Vaadi Vaasal. Details about the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced.
