First look of Vemal's Paramasivan Fathima out

The makers earlier, while announcing the film, said the story will explore the religious divisions between two communities

The makers of Vemal's upcoming film Paramasivan Fathima unveiled the first look poster featuring the actor and the female lead, Chaya Devi, on Tuesday, on the occasion of Pongal.

The poster has the two leads and a temple festival of a deity and his consort. The makers earlier, while announcing the film, said the story will explore the religious divisions between two communities. The new poster suggests that the festival could either be the flare point of a conflict or that the storyline could deal with honour killing and the leads being parallels to the god and goddess, a rural practice of deifying victims of honour killing.

The film is directed by Esakki Karvannan, who has previously made Tamil Kudimagan (2023), Pettikadai (2019) and Pagiri (2016). "The film depicts the lives of two communities from a hill village who are affected by the diktats of their respective religions. The film explores, in an engaging and non-preachy manner, how communal strife impacts the lives of the people in these communities," the makers say.

Paramasivan Fathima features an ensemble cast of Vemal in the lead role, with Chayadevi playing the female lead and MS Bhaskar, Manoj Kumar, Sri Ranjani, Athira, Aruldoss, Cool Suresh, Kadhal Sukumar, Veerasamar, and others in other crucial roles.

The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Myna Sukumar and music composer Deepan Chakravarthy. Esakki has also written the script of the film, produced by Lakshmi Creations. The film's final leg of shooting is underway.

Vemal, who was last seen in Bose Venkat's SIR, also has a horror film titled Belladona in the pipeline.
