In what he describes as a "transformative decision," actor Ravi announced on Monday that he has decided to remove the "Jayam" prefix from his name and has adopted "Ravi Mohan" as his new name for all intents and purposes.

Jayam was the 2003 film Ravi made his debut with and the film's success made the title a moniker to his name and it slowly turned into a part of his name.

Reasoning his decision, Ravi, in an official note, wrote that Ravi and Ravi Mohan is the name that "deeply resonates" with his personal and professional aspirations. The actor has also launched a production house, "Ravi Mohan Studios," which he says is dedicated to "discovering and championing compelling narratives that inspire, captivate, and resonate with audiences worldwide." He added that the production venture represents his commitment to nurture emerging talents and bring "profound and meaningful" stories to cinema.

In the note, the actor also announced that he has restructured his fan clubs into an organisation named "Ravi Mohan Fans Foundation." He said the foundation will work towards helping the needy and making a positive impact in society.

On the work front, Ravi was last seen in Rajesh M's Brother; he has Kadhalikka Neramillai with Nithya Menen, directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, which will release tomorrow (January 14) on the occasion of Pongal. He also has JR34 with director Ganesh K Babu and will also be seen in a crucial role in Sivakarthikeyan's multi-starrer SK25, which also stars Atharvaa and Sreeleela, directed by Sudha Kongara.
