After collaborating twice, in Draupathi (2020) and Rudra Thandavam (2021), director Mohan G and actor Richard Rishi are set to join again for Draupathi 2.

On Wednesday, the makers announced the project with a title poster. While Draupathi 2 is expected to be a period film revolving around the 14th-century Hoysala dynasty, it is unclear if it is a sequel to the 2020 film. Draupathi 2, produced by Sola Shakkaravarthi under GM Film Corporation, has Ghibran Vaibodha as the composer. The plot and other details, such as the release date, rest of the technical crew, and cast, are kept under wraps.

Actor Richard Rishi was last seen in Vinay Bharadwaj's Sila Nodigalil (2023), opposite Yashika Aannand and Punnagai Poo Gheetha, who produced the film. The mystery thriller opened to mixed responses upon release. Mohan G, meanwhile, who made his debut with Pazhaya Vannarapettai (2016), last made Bakasuran (2022) with Selvaraghavan in the lead. The film received mixed to negative reviews from critics and audiences.
