Actor Arun Vijay and director Bala's film Vanangaan is set to release on February 21 on Tentkotta. The film, which released on Pongal this year, also stars Roshini Prakash, Samuthirakani, Ridha, and Mysskin. It marked Bala's comeback as a director five years after Varmaa. Suresh Kamatchi produced the film under his V House Productions banner.

Vanangaan tells the story of a deaf-and-mute man (Arun Vijay) and his violent fight against voyeurism. It did not perform well at the box office and met with mostly negative reviews from critics. An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "With a plethora of problematic takes and half-baked ideas, Vanangaan's biggest issue remains its complete disinterest in giving us a cohesive story."

The film was originally set to star Suriya in the lead role, along with Krithi Shetty and Mamitha Baiju. However, creative differences contributed to Suriya opting out of the film, leading to production delays and Krithi and Mamitha's exit.
