Director Adhik Ravichandran, whose Good Bad Ugly with Ajith is set for a release in a few weeks, shared what the actor had said to him about the Magizh Thirumeni directorial Vidaamuyarchi, which released on Thursday.

Adhik, in a presser outside the screening of Vidaamuyarchi, said that Ajith told him he was making the film for women. The director, comparing this film with Good Bad Ugly, reflected that Ajith is particular about balancing star vehicles and films with social responsibility. Adhik, who was a part of the star cast of Ajith starrer Nerkonda Paarvai, further said he believes that fans are sensible enough to celebrate the actor in a de-glam role in a socially responsible film.

Remarking about the actor's dedication, Adhik added that Ajith would split his call sheet evenly at morning and night for Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly, respectively.

An excerpt from the CE review of the film reads, "Vidaamuyarchi has a big, honest heart, much like its protagonist. It could have been shaped differently, into something grander, something more easily gratifying, in keeping with our commercial cinema rules, but I like that it doesn't go that route. Because it doesn't, we get the rare pleasure of seeing a truly unique protagonist—not a hero, but a man who refuses to give up on even those even when they have given up on themselves (one character even confesses to hating himself)."

Vidaamuyarchi also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, and Regina Cassandra in key roles. Recently, the makers of the film added Ramya Subramanian, also known as VJ Ramya, to the cast. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Om Prakash, editing by NB Srikanth, and action by Supreme Sundar.

Ajith and Adhik Ravichandran's Good Bad Ugly is set for a theatrical release worldwide on April 10.
