We had earlier reported that actor Silambarasan TR and director Ashwath Marimuthu will unite for a project which will bind the actor's hit films like Dum, Vallavan and Manmadhan for this generation's sensibilities.

Backed by AGS Entertainment, the film was tentatively titled AGS 27. The latest announcement is that Silambarasan will be playing God Of Love in the upcoming film. STR 51 is slated for a release in summer 2026.

Meanwhile, this film will mark Ashwath Marimuthu's second collaboration with the production house, with the first one, Dragon, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, already under production.

STR was last seen in Obeli Krishna's Pathu Thala. Though there is no clarity whether the actor's 48th project with Desingh Periyasamy, backed by RKFI, will be a two-part film, the Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal director will also helm STR 50. Simbu, on his 42nd birthday, launched his production company, Atman Cine Arts, which will back his 50th film. Meanwhile, Parking fame director Ramkumar Balakrishnan will direct Simbu's 49th film.

Other details about STR 51, such as the plot and the rest of the cast, are yet to be unveiled.
