Director Lokesh Kanagaraj spoke to the media earlier today about the criticism he has received for his film Coolie, starring Rajinikanth. The director said that he has heard negative comments from many viewers and would try to correct the mistakes he committed in the Rajinikanth starrer in his next film. The filmmaker also said that his producer told him that Coolie earned 500 crore. “Whenever there is criticism for a film from the audience, it is important to accept it. At the same time, beyond all the criticism, many saw the film for Rajinikanth sir. I must also express my gratitude to them,” filmmaker said.

Lokesh said that he could not address the critics at the time of the film's release because he was busy with his next film's shoot and could not get the opportunity to do so. Lokesh is set to direct Aamir Khan in a superhero film next. He is also starring in the lead role of an action film, directed by Arun Matheswaran of Captain Miller fame. The film marks Lokesh’s debut as a lead hero. Previously, he has made cameo appearances in films such as Master and Singapore Saloon.

Lokesh is also producing Benz, starring Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly. Directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan, Benz is part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
