With Parasakthi's producer, Aakash Bhaskaran's Dawn Pictures, pushing the film's release ahead by four days, it has brought it one day closer to the release of Vijay-H Vinoth's Jana Nayagan. While the bookings are yet to open for either film, the pre-release numbers paint an interesting picture about the latest trends in Tamil cinema. According to BookMyShow figures, over 1,46,000 people expressed interest in watching the Sivakarthikeyan-Sudha Kongara film, as opposed to more than 1,45,000 for the Vijay starrer. It is worth noting that the aforementioned figures apply to main theatres, the so-called 'A centre' screens, in metropolitan cities.
Considering that Jana Nayagan is a Vijay film, and that too his final film before his full entry into politics, it is expected to have a massive opening. According to Sacnilk data, the Vijay starrer has earned more than 100 crore from pre-release business alone. Interestingly, industry trackers' data also shows promising business numbers for the Sivakarthikeyan starrer, with some claiming that it has landed a 52-crore streaming deal.
While one will have to wait and see to know the commercial performance of both films, the early trends hint at a strong battle between between them at the box office.
