Actor Shrutika Arjun, who has been a popular face on reality TV shows, recently made a mark in Bigg Boss Hindi's season 18 where she earned plaudits for her performance and showcasing her authentic self. Although she has stayed away from acting movies for over two decades, she continues to entertain audiences on social media. When probed about Bigg Boss Tamil season 9 in an exclusive interview with Cinema Express, the actor instantly remarked, "I've never watched such a show in Tamil for the last seven seasons," hinting at the deteriorating quality of the popular reality TV show.
"When I watch the host asking questions to the contestants in a stern manner, I feel like saying, 'Please ask more questions'. This season has more intimate moments and is not family friendly," she said, sharing her views on the current season. "I had to ask my son for the first time, 'Why are you watching this season?'," she added, pointing out that it is stepping into "soft pornographic content."
Shrutika also expressed her gratitude to fans for watching her in Bigg Boss Hindi's 18th season despite not knowing the language. She played to her strengths in the season and was evicted on the 96th day.
Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 has been facing criticism from fans and viewers for airing content deemed non–family-friendly and for allegedly failing to reprimand contestants for their conduct on the show. A protest was also conducted a few weeks ago where Thamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) leader and MLA Velumurugan called for a complete ban on the show, claiming that it “denigrates Tamil culture” and promotes “indecency” on national television.
For the uninitiated, Shrutika made her debut with in 2002's Sri, opposite Suriya, after which she went on to feature in some more films, notably Nala Damayanthi and Thithikudhe. The actor quit films a long time ago to pay more attention to her education before making the comeback to the entertainment field with the reality cooking show Cooku with Comali season 3 where she was crowned the title winner.
Currently, she appears as a judge on the reality TV program Single Pasanga on ZEE5.
