Dhruv Vikram recounted the efforts that he had to take on preparing for his role as a kabaddi player in Mari Selvaraj's Bison Kaalamaadan. The film, which was based on Arjuna Award winner Manathi Ganesan's life, was released on October 17.

Speaking at a roundtable interview conducted by The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor said, "I think I needed to do that. I feel like, as an actor and as a person, I am in a position to prove to the audience but also myself what I am willing to do, what I am willing to endure to find a place for myself in cinema."

"All the boys that I would play (kabaddi) with and spend time with, over a year and a half, they all didn't care much about the injuries that they would have had," said the actor, who added, "All the injuries I had were the typcial kabaddi sportsman injuries. So that became a very important part of the prep for the character. And I just began to love the sport so much, that after a point what acting is to me, became what kabaddi is to him (Dhruv's character in Bison)."

Bison Kaalamaadan grossed over Rs 70 crores worldwide, in its box office collections. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
