On Sunday, the audio launch of Kombuseevi, Ponram's upcoming film starring Shanmuga Pandian and Sarath Kumar, took place in Chennai. At the event, the film's music composer, Yuvan Shankar Raja, took to the stage to speak about his longstanding collaboration with late actor and politician Vijayakanth, Shanmuga Pandian's father.

Speaking about his earliest memories of the veteran actor both on and off screen, he detailed, "I grew up watching Captain Vijayakanth sir on the big screen and was deeply inspired by his costumes, style and action sequences. I have always looked at him with awe. When Captain sir had just gotten married, my mother had invited them home for dinner, and I vividly remember dancing for him at that young age. Composing music for his son’s film today feels like a complete full-circle moment."

On why he picked the film, he further elaborated, "When Ponram sir told me that Shanmuga Pandian was the hero of Kombuseevi, I did not think twice. I immediately told him that I had to be a part of it. The script is something I enjoyed listening to after a long time, and the comic timing in the film works really well."

Yuvan then recalled his first collaboration with the actor. "I had earlier composed music for Captain sir’s Thennavan. Even before that, my brother Karthik Raja had worked on his film Alexander. When my brother got busy with another project, I got the opportunity to do the re-recording for Alexander and also composed one song for the film. That is where my career truly began. Today, composing for Shanmuga Pandian feels like working for someone who is family," he said.

The cast of the film also includes Tharnika, Anaira Gupta, George Maryan, and Sujith Shankar. The crew of the film also includes Balasubramaniem as the director of photography, Dinesh Ponraj as the editor, Saravana Abiram as the art director, and Phoenix Prabhu and Sakthi Saravanan as the stunt choreographers. Kombuseevi is backed by Mukesh T Chelliah under the Star Cinemas banner. It is currently gearing up for release on December 19.
