Originally released in 1999, Padayappa was released on the 25th year of Rajinikanth's career, and became one of the last releases of Sivaji Ganeshan. The film was directed KS Ravikumar, and also featured Ramya Krishnan as Neelambari, the film's villain. Padayappa was a turning point in the actor's career. The film is currently playing in theatres.
