Karthik Subbaraj is one of the producers for the recently announced 29. The upcoming film will be director Ratna Kumar's fourth film, and his second collaboration with director Karthik, who was a presenter for Rathna Kumar's debut Meyaadha Maan.

However at the film's launch event, Karthik revealed that he had some points of disagreements with Rathna Kumar. "He's a very good writer and a director. He has also voiced his opinions about certain things, some of which I did not like. But since he is family, I urge him to focus on films."

29 stars Karthik Subburaj regular Vidhu (Jigarthanda DoubleX and Retro), and Preethi Asrani (Mask and Balti) in the lead. The cast also includes Master Mahendran, Avinash, Shenaz Fathima, and Premkumar.

Sean Roldan is composing music for 29 in his first collaboration with Ratna Kumar.

Karthik and Rathna Kumar's first collaboration Meyaadha Maan, was released in 2017, and was based on Ratna Kumar's short film, Madhu.
