Filmmaker Ashwath Marimuthu enjoyed success with his sophomore, Dragon, starring Pradeep Ranganathan, Mysskin, Kayadu Lohar, and Anupama Parameswaran. The film, with an entertainment value and a relevant message, won praise from both critics and audiences alike.

In a latest accolade to the film, it has been ranked eighth among the Top 10 Indian Movies of the year by IMDb. Ashwath shared an image of himself with the entertainment database's memento. Another Tamil film to make it to the top 10 is debutant Abishan Jeevinth's Tourist Family, which was packed with entertaining moments and values proportionately.

As far as IMDb movie rankings for 2025 are concerned, it's a Malayalam year by a huge margin, as six of the ten spots were bagged by Malayalam films: Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, Eko, Padakkalam, Ponman, Rekhachitram, and Court - State Vs A Nobody. The other two films that featured in the list were Su from So (Kannada) and Homebound (Hindi).

On the work front, Ashwath will make his third film starring Silambarasan TR, tentatively titled STR 51, which he said will also have fantasy elements.
