Filmmaker Lingusamy has recently re-released his 2014 film, Anjaan, after making edits and reducing the runtime substantially. The film, according to fans, is said to be much better and crisper than the original version.

The commercial director has been promoting the Suriya starrer, which wasn't received favourably upon its initial release, where he said filmmakers like him who hail from a humble background cannot survive without overconfidence. In a recent interview with Behindwoods, the director addressed the criticism of his overconfidence behind the failure of Anjaan. He responded to that criticism, saying, "Can any filmmaker survive with anything less than overconfidence? I hail from a very humble background. Let alone Anjaan, without overconfidence, I wouldn't have even moved to Chennai. Some may look at it as overconfidence, to me it is just confidence."

Starring Suriya in the lead, Anjaan also stars Vidyut Jammwal, Samantha, and Manoj Bajpayee in pivotal roles. The film has Krishna (Suriya), the twin brother of the dreaded and deceased gangster Raju Bhai (also Suriya), coming to Mumbai to know what really happened to his brother and who killed him. Krishna discards his guise to reveal himself as Raju, who escaped from the attempt on his life, he is set to search and eliminate those who have snitched on him.
