Major Spoilers for Stranger Things season 5: Volume 1 ahead

It's been five days since Stranger Things season 5: Volume 1 premiered on Netflix, and fans are still reeling from all the twists that the Duffer brothers threw at the fans towards the end of episode 4. This includes *spoiler* *spoiler*

1) Will's newfound powers

2) The re-emergence of Kali Prasad aka 008

3) Max and Holly Wheeler being stuck in Henry Creel aka Vecna's control

Among these, fans were most perplexed about Kali making a return to the Stranger Things universe after season 2, which received major criticism for its story and screenplay, and received the lowest rating among all seasons. Matt and Ross duffer were not joking when they said they would connect all the characters' stories and Vecna's origin together. With Kali Prasad's reunion with the lead cast, the creators have solved the biggest mystery in all of the universe and have connected season 2 to the final story.

Who is Kali Prasad?

Remember when all of Dr Brenner's experiments were killed by Henry Creel aka Vecna? The one who escaped the terrible fate was experiment 008 aka Kali Prasad who feld Hawkins laboratory long before deadly events transpired there. A sister figure to Eleven/ Jane Hopper (Millie Bobby Brown), she was first seen in season 2 in a rebellious avatar trying to take revenge on people responsible for the injustices she suffered there.

An Indian-origin girl, Kali was abducted from London to the lab by Brenner to study about her powers and its effects. She and Eleven became good friends at the lab and would often play in the infamous rainbow room. She developed special abilities after experiments were conducted on her although it wasn't similar to Creel's. Later having grown tired of the experiments, she fled the lab.

After many years, Eleven tracked Kali down and found her. Prasad opened up that she felt complete upon seeing Eleven. She then introduced her to the rest of the gang, Axel, Mick, Funshine, and later Dottie, noting that they too are outcasts.

However, during a mission to track down Ray Carroll — a former Hawkins Lab employee who had abused both Kali and Eleven — tensions flared between the sisters. After discovering a photo of Carroll with his family, Eleven intervened to stop Kali from killing him.

Although Kali urged her to stay, Eleven ultimately ran off to reunite with her friends, leaving Kali behind. Heartbroken by Eleven’s decision, Kali was left with the painful likelihood that they might never cross paths again.

What is Kali doing in season 5?

Fast forward to season 5, Kali makes an appearance in the final episode of Volume 1 where she is strapped to a machine that seems to extract her powers for Dr Kay's experiments and possibly, act as Eleven's Kryptonite, drawing out her powers and making her immobile.

Until this time, Eleven, who thought Vecna was behind the metal door, has the shock (and surprise) of her life when she sees her sister Kali. They share a loving gaze as Kali too recognises her and the volume ends leaving many questions with the viewers.

This means that at some point, Kali was kidnapped by Dr Kay's men to probably use her as a bait to bring back Eleven or even test her powers at the demigorgons. Kali can weave powerful illusions and influence minds, allowing her to make anyone perceive and accept whatever she chooses.

This could mean only one thing: Viewers are in for more twists and turns in Volume 2 and a final showdown between Vecna, Will, Eleven as well as Kali is a possible reality.
