Draupathi 2 first-look: Richard Rishi to play King Veera Simha Kadavarayan in Mohan G directorial

While Draupathi 2 is a period film revolving around the 14th-century Hoysala dynasty, it is unclear if it is a direct sequel to the 2020 film

On Wednesday, on the occasion of Ganesh Chathurthi, the makers of Mohan G’s Draupathi 2 unveiled the film’s first-look poster. In the film, Richard Rishi is all set to portray King Veera Simha Kadavarayan. 

Sharing the poster, the makers wrote, “The Hoysala emperor of the South, Third Veera Vallala, and the Kadavarayar kings of Senthamangalam: a legacy of bravery, sacrifice, and blood-soaked history.”

While Draupathi 2 is a period film revolving around the 14th-century Hoysala dynasty, it is unclear if it is a direct sequel to the 2020 film. Draupathi 2, produced by Sola Shakkaravarthi under GM Film Corporation, has Ghibran Vaibodha as the composer. While Philip R Sunder will crank the camera, Devaraj will edit the film. 

The plot and other details, such as the release date and the rest of the cast, are kept under wraps. However, the makers have announced that the film will hit theatres in 2025. 

Actor Richard Rishi was last seen in Vinay Bharadwaj's Sila Nodigalil (2023), opposite Yashika Aannand and Punnagai Poo Gheetha, who produced the film.Mohan G, meanwhile, who made his debut with Pazhaya Vannarapettai (2016), last made Bakasuran (2022) with Selvaraghavan in the lead.

Released in 2020, Draupathi starred Richard Rishi alongside Sheela Rajkumar in lead roles. The film revolved around Rudra Prabhakaran, who is jailed after being accused of his wife's murder in an alleged honour killing. Subsequently, he descends into a dark path of vengeance after posting bail.
