Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie, which stars Rajinikanth in the lead, continues to lead the box office at the end of Day 3 of its theatrical run. The film which is backed by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures released on August 14.
According to box office tracker Sacnilk, the film ended up collecting Rs 38.6 crores at the Indian box office. On its opening day, it collected Rs 65 crores and went on to collect Rs 54.75 crores at the end of Day 2. The dip on Day 2 could be attributed to the surge for Coolie's competition, War 2. At the end of Day 3, Coolie collected Rs 158.35 crores, total, at the Indian box office.
Coolie is the sixth film from director Lokesh, in his first time directing Rajinikanth. The film boasts a star-studded cast, which includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, Shruthi Haasan, Rachita Ram, Kanna Ravi, and Charle, among others.
Anirudh continues his collaboration with Lokesh after composing for Master, Vikram, and Leo. Girish Gangadharan, who worked on Vikram, handles cinematography for Coolie, with Lokesh's longtime collaborator Philomin Raj as the editor for the film.
